Ex-president faces prison

FORMER president of Alicante provincial government José Joaquín Ripoll faces up to 16 years in prison for his part in the alleged Brugal corruption scandal.
The anti-corruption prosecutor is accusing the Partido Popular (PP) politician of six offences – ongoing bribery, disclosure of privileged information, influence peddling, abuse of power, fraud and unlawful negotiations for a civil servant.
