The government is set to issue regulations on the obligatory use of face masks in public places, according to state news agency EFE.

Requests to bring in stricter measures were made by regional presidents in the weekly meeting by video link with PM Pedro Sánchez yesterday (Sunday).

According to state news agency EFE, the ministry for health is now studying the proposal and will make a statement ‘in the coming days’.

EFE noted that ‘no concrete details’ have yet been given on the extension of the use of the face mask, which is currently only obligatory on public transport.

According to EFE, Sr Sánchez also told regional presidents that the government is set to extend the measure which allows all residents of municipalities with less than 5,000 residents to take exercise or walks at any time between 06.00 and 23.00.

It will soon be brought in for towns and villages will less than 10,000 inhabitants.

No date has yet been given for this relaxation measure.

Costa Blanca News will give more information on these announcements when it is made available by the government.
