Dear Editor
Despite having been resident permanently in Spain for 30 years, I enjoy reading the articles by Jane Cronin, particularly the “Spanish Reflections”.
I was particularly interested in the article last week on “The History of the Spanish Language”.
Like all languages, Spanish has adopted words from many different tongues, but mainly from Latin brought by the Romans when they were in control of Spain for about 700 years from 200 AD to 500 BC.
Boy! These Romans must have known how to live it up… backwards!
