The CB News (18-24 Jan), reports a provincial court backing ‘bullfighting’ and yet in sharp contrast, the opposite page features a piece on police raiding a cockfighting event. Both these cruel and unnecessary ‘blood sports’ should be relegated to the history books.
And yet one is often presented as ‘culture’, ‘heritage’ and ‘tradition’. It is without doubt, that both practices cause unnecessary suffering, distress and pain to both bulls and cocks, respectively.
No civilised society should countenance either and I am heartened that a growing number of people in Spain are opposed to animal cruelty in any form.
