The massive build-up of canes in the River Segura could lead to flooding in the Vega Baja.
This was the warning issued by Socialist party (PSOE) regional deputy David Cerdán this week.
A dense jungle of reeds is almost reaching the footbridge which passes between the villages of Benijófar and Formentera (see photo).
