Where to start with this little one’s tragic story? Maya was seen as an abandoned puppy living on an industrial zone. Alone, somehow, she survived, with some people trying to help her and others abusing her. A group of Animalistas approached SCAN and asked if we could help, if they caught her. They had seen she was pregnant. We agreed to help and eventually they caught her and delivered her, scared, and traumatised to the shelter, where she delivered 4 puppies just a few days later. Being just a puppy herself, we looked after the family carefully and Maya was a brave and wonderful mama. The puppies are now in lovely safe homes whilst we have worked with MAYA, to help her socialise. She is a very timid little girl, but gentle and kind and has some nice doggie friends in the shelter. She is quiet and calm and is just waiting for her own family, who can teach her about love and trust. She’s good on the lead and enjoys playing with all the other dogs at SCAN. MAYA is a Portuguese Podenco Cross. She is small but perfectly formed, fully vaccinated, neutered and is negative for leishmania. Vince 7 has sadly been with us since he was just 6 months old and we have no idea why he is overlooked A gorgeous boy who is easy to walk on the lead and adores female dogs but sadly has seen many girlfriends adopted.
