THE first known case of the Zika virus has been confirmed in the Valencia region after a 16-year-old boy proved positive on his return from a 45-day stay in Colombia.
Doctors at the national microbiology centre of the Carlos III health institute told the regional health authority that tests on the boy, admitted in an Alicante hospital, showed he had the virus.
