Shops – by appointment only

Small businesses can open from today (Monday) under strict guidelines which were published yesterday in the official state bulletin (BOE).

The shop or premises must be less than 400 square metres in size.

They can only be used by appointment, which can be set up via telephone or email.

The business can only attend to one client per worker in the premises.

They have to reserve a ‘priority timetable’ for people aged over 65, which must coincide with the exercise times for the elderly (people over the age of 70) – which is 10.00 to 12.00 and 19.00 to 20.00.

The businesses have to adhere to strict hygiene measures – for example if they are a shoe or clothes shop then they to disinfect the changing rooms every time they are used along with each item.

The proprietor has to offer hand-cleaning gels for their clients.

In a government advice document, they note that hairdressing salons can operate under strict conditions.

The hairdresser will have to wear a face mask and ‘adequate protective clothing’ – the client will have to wear a face mask.

Full information on the measure will appear in Friday’s Costa Blanca News.
