The official rate dropped to 1.10 this week and exchange desks around Benidorm were offering a rate of 1.08 euros to the pound.

I agree with you there, I will be in spain for 4 months very soon,the low exchange rate just means that I live like a Spanish person for the time that I am there and not like a tourist going out every day and night on the booze,you can still have a nice holiday.
