POLICE in Nerja have arrested five people in connection with a number of fraudulent gas inspections in the Axarquía. Two others are also under investigation and all face a range of possible charges, including belonging to a criminal organisation.
The investigation began after reports of fake gas inspectors in Nerja, Frigiliana, Torrox, Canillas del Aceituno and Colmenar. The suspects were calling unannounced on homes, mainly belonging to elderly or foreign residents, claiming that their gas appliances had to be inspected.
