Spate of fires highlights high risk and need for caution

MULTIPLE wildfires at the weekend were contained before causing widespread damage, but served as a reminder that Málaga province is in high fire risk season.

The Infoca wildfire brigade successfully battled four separate wildfires in the province between Saturday and Monday of this week, with their quick action preventing the further spread of the blazes. All of the fires were contained using aircraft as well as fire crews on the ground, with two of the blazes burning less than a hectare each while the largest, in Manilva, scorched almost 40 hectares of scrubland.
