Benidorm mayor Toni Pérez has confirmed Benidorm’s beaches (Levante, Mal Pas and Poniente) will be open to residents and visitors from 09.00 on Monday (June 15). The ‘Benidorm Beach Safety’ plan has seen the resort’s beaches divided into 5,122 plots for four people each (4mx4m plots) thus alowing a maximum of 26,4,606 bathers (the usual capacity is over 40,000) in ‘free zones’ plus 5,525 on sunbeds to be rented by the beach concesion company. Specific areas have been designated for over-70s too.
Beaches must be accessed at one of the 20 designated entry points where capacity control staff will be stationed to accompany bathers to their plot. Before July 1, a reservation system will be launched and those wishing to book a plot will have to do so via the town hall website. Once this system is up-and-running, only those who have a confirmed booking will be allowed on the beach.
