A 41-YEAR-old local man has been detained on suspicion of starting a fire which raged near Archidona at the weekend razing at least 100 hectares of parkland. The alarm was raised on Friday afternoon and around 500 ground and air crew were called in before the blaze was declared to be under control on Sunday afternoon.
Regional government delegate José Luis Ruiz Espejo said the deployment had been “the most important forest fire operation this summer” in the province of Málaga.
