The public works ministry in Madrid has approved the project to upgrade the N-338 which links the N-332 with the main Alicante ring road and provides access to Alicante-Elche airport.
The cost of the project to widen the 4.75 kilometre-long road has been set at €29.3 million but the project is likely to mothballed for the foreseeable future because no funds are available to carry out the work.
