VOLUNTEERS and donors turned out in force last week to help local animal shelters clean up the muck and get back on their feet following the heavy floods during the previous weekend.
The PAD shelter in Mijas, which suffered flooding a metre deep during the storm, put out a Facebook appeal for help during a major clean-up day last Tuesday. “We were totally overwhelmed by the response,” said PAD president Lisa Emeny. “Around 200 people showed up and the whole shelter was cleaned up in one day.”
