SPAIN has maintained its terror alert at Level 4 of 5, but has stepped up surveillance in sensitive areas following last week’s atrocity in Nice. The country’s border with France, as well as airports and popular tourist areas are all under close scrutiny, according to acting Interior Minister Jorge Fernández Díaz who has been liaising with his opposite number in Paris. He said that controls at the borders were to have been relaxed this month but they will now remain in place for as long as is necessary.
