Excessive speed causes 300 deaths a year on Spain’s roads, according to Tráfico. The roads authority has intensified controls this week, especially on conventional 90 kph roads where, it says, most infringements occur. Roads of major risk, which Tráfico says account for 80% of fatalities, will see speed checks doubled.
