Cártama mayor Jorge Gallardo has promised to promote the naming of local streets after women, following a study by students at the town’s Cartima secondary school, which showed a major imbalance of streets named after men versus women. The students found similar results in studying other towns in the province and are sharing their findings with various town halls.
