Mijas town hall has pedestrianised some streets in Mijas Pueblo during certain hours of the day, in a move officials say is aimed at increasing safety and improving the experience of tourists during the summer. Until mid-September, Avenida del Compás and Calles Málaga and Carril will be closed to traffic from 6pm to midnight, except for garage access for local residents.
