Farmers in the Axarquía say they are “resigned” to the 60% cut in water supplies for irrigation which came into force on Friday, December 1. At a meeting last week, they recognised that they cannot get more water without increased rainfall, but expressed annoyance that some communities are not “regularised.” The farmers say they will continue to urge the authorities to speed up emergency drought plans.
