Spanish homes threw away 604 million kilos of food and drink last year, 4% less than in 2015. Official data released on Monday shows that, including the entire chain of food from agriculture to consumers including workplaces and restaurants, this rises to 7.7 tonnes, representing a cost of €3 billion. The government has launched an awareness campaign to cut down on waste.
