The provincial court has upheld the conviction of a man found guilty of negligently starting a fire in 2012 in El Burgo while performing controlled burning on his property that got out of control. The court found that he had no authorisation for the burning and failed to take necessary precautions. He is sentenced to six months in prison, and must pay a fine and costs for putting out the fire, which burned 6,000 square metres.
