A 27-year-old British tourist has been detained by National Police on Mallorca after allegedly trying to strangle his wife in front of their two young children. The alarm was raised by the occupant of a neighbouring hotel room who heard the woman’s cries for help. Local police say the wife refused to lodge a formal complaint, fearing threats of further violence when they returned home.
