Dangerous giant snail found in Andalucía

The species, native to east Africa, carries parasites that can cause an infection leading to a form of meningitis in humans

The giant African snail can reach seven centimetres in height and over 20 centimetres in length

A GIANT snail which carries parasites harmful to humans has been identified in Andalucía. The Achatina fulica is native to East Africa and, as a significant pest, is listed in the world’s top 100 invasive species and is one of more than 200 exotic creatures prohibited in Spain
