Alhaurín uses ladybirds to prevent mess from jacaranda trees

Ladybirds and parasitic wasps prey on aphids that produce the sticky mess

Boxes and bags containing the insects have been hung in trees in various areas of town

Alhaurín de la Torre last week launched a pilot scheme using ladybirds and a type of tiny parasitic wasp as a ‘biological control’ to combat the sticky mess made by jacaranda trees.
