MEMBERS of the public have been given 30 days from August 19 by the authorities to complete a survey giving their opinion on plans for two solar farms in Torremendo, a rural district of Orihuela.

The procedure is a requirement of the regional law on zoning, town planning and the landscape.

It is an opportunity for anyone interested to express their preferences regarding the options proposed in the landscape integration studies for the two projects, submitted by the companies Sisebuto and Gundemarro. The Torremendo I and Torremendo II plants would take up 46 hectares and 62ha respectively, each capable of generating 37.49 megawatts.

The former would predominantly occupy countryside currently used for growing crop-bearing trees (fruit, olives, vines, etc.), as well as some terraced orchards and a small area of woodland.
