I don’t know about you (well, obviously, I don’t actually know all Cork Talk readers, claro!) but these days I always prefer a nibble with my wine.
It wasn’t always thus. In my, now long-gone, student days, copious amounts of beer were de rigueur, with food only playing an incidental part – often, after the bar closed, at the Indian restaurant just up the road on Northgate, Chester! And, whilst I still like ale (of which there is such an amazing wealth of choice in the UK these days), I moved onto wine, not long after those halcyon days, having discovered, a) that beer didn’t really go with fine dining and, b) I needed to grow-up!
