It’s quite a few years now, since I darkened the doors of the Costa Blanca Wine Society. My wine work: writing, broadcasting, judging, tourism, travelling and presenting tastings/pairings meant that I simply didn’t have the time. So, now that I’m doing a little less, on doctor’s orders, we were delighted to receive an invitation to attend a recent dinner, from our friends Neil and Carol, who’ve been CBWS members for a number of years now.
As regular readers will know, I have a great interest in the sparkling wines of Spain – Cava, yes of course, but also fizz made in different areas of Spain, by the traditional method, as is cava, but also by other methods too. I was therefore doubly delighted to learn that the theme of the night in questions was Cava. There were to be five different sparklers presented by five different ladies, the eponymous ‘Ladies Who Fizz’!
