Tony Blair may not have got his just deserts – a prison cell for the rest of his life – but at least his reputation has been comprehensively destroyed by the findings of the Chilcot Inquiry.
During the former PM’s extraordinary press conference after the report’s publication he acknowledged some errors, but pretty much stuck to his guns, a sign that he’s suffering from self-delusion on a grand scale.
He trotted out the old justifications such as removing Saddam has made the world a better place and was still trying to perpetuate the myth that 9/11 had something to do with Iraq. His arguments fall on deaf ears now. They are the mutterings of a mad man.
