LAST Thursday was a historic day for the town of Benalmádena, with a ceremony taking place to formally mark the start of work on the long-awaited project to remodel the Arroyo de la Miel exit on the A-7 motorway.
The event, which saw the ceremonial ‘first brick’ of the multi-million-euro project laid, was attended by a number of politicians, including Spain’s minister for public works Íñigo de la Serna, the central government’s delegate for Málaga Miguel Briones, provincial government head Elías Bendodo and a number of local councillors.
Preliminary project work is to take place over the summer, with diggers, bulldozers and construction workers expected onsite after the peak season in October.
