A PRESSURE group formed in Nerja in January to fight against a new golf and hotel complex says it has gathered 700 signatures of support. Plans are being prepared for an 18-hole golf course, 680 homes and several luxury hotels on the site of the former sugar factory near Maro.
The developer, Azucarera Larios SA (Salsa), owns almost 250 hectares of land which has lain mostly unused since the factory ceased production. It wants to use around two million square metres for the project and has applied to have the land reclassified so that it can proceed.
