The reduction in VAT (IVA) on food will continue until the end of the year.
The extension of the policy was announced following Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting.
Government spokeswoman Isabel Rodríguez and deputy prime minister Nadia Calviño revealed that a number of measures have been prolonged to ‘continue responding to the impact of the war in Ukraine’.
These are to ‘help the most vulnerable collectives’ around the country affected by the rise in prices.
She reminded that VAT has been scrapped on basic items of food, and reduced to 5% for cooking oils and pasta.
