Dredging is being carried out at the mouth of the old channel of the River Segura in Guardamar, which has been clogged with muddy sediment for many years and is barely a metre deep.
The work will ‘substantially improve the flow of river water into the sea’, but ecologists have voiced concerns that no environmental impact study was carried out first.
