A 40-YEAR-old British man has died after getting into difficulties in the sea off Peñoncillo beach in Torrox. The victim, named as Reece Bryan Morris, is reported to have entered the water with his 10-year-old daughter on Sunday afternoon while the red warning flag was flying.

Other people on the beach became aware that the pair were struggling with the strong offshore current which was pushing them towards a rocky outcrop. Around a dozen members of the public went into the water to help bring the daughter safely onto the rocks as first-responders arrived on a jetski. The father was then brought out of the water and resuscitation was applied for an hour, but it failed to revive him.
