THE former director of the Parque Animal shelter and municipal pound in Torremolinos, Carmen Marín, who was convicted of animal abuse and document fraud in relation to the “massive and unjustified” euthanising of animals, has been ordered to jail to begin serving her prison sentence.

The Málaga court in charge of the case issued the order last Thursday, after the provincial court in October upheld Sra Marín’s conviction on appeal. It gave her five days to report to jail, but the timeline has been slightly pushed back due to a delay in her being formally notified of the order.
