SHOPPERS in Torremolinos have a chance to win a one-day, 10,000-euro shopping spree after the local business association launched this year’s edition of its annual Reyes por un Día (King or Queen for a Day) promotion.

The scheme, organised by the ACET business association to promote local shopping during the holidays and winter sales season, runs until February 11, when a draw will be held to select the winner from among the 500,000 tickets that have been distributed to member shops and businesses to hand out to customers when they make a purchase.

The winning ticket in last year’s campaign was given out by a British-owned business in the town, the Accents English Academy, where winner Spencer González’s children were taking classes. As he was whisked around town for his shopping spree – decked out in royal cape and crown – one of his stops was at the academy, where he used some of his winnings to buy more classes for his children.
