Benalmádena’s municipal water company Emabesa announced last week that it will be taking greater action to combat drinking water consumption fraud this year, through increased checks and inspections. The company said it uncovered more than 250 cases of fraud last year, including users that had manipulated water meters; joined the water network illegally or had double connections, and said the illegal water use “harms the entire population”.
