A 21-year-old Spanish student has been handed a one-year prison sentence for joking about victims of terrorism on Twitter. The High Court last week found Cassandra Vera guilty of humiliating victims in 13 comments posted between 2013 and 2016. She has also been barred from holding public employment or office for seven years which means she cannot follow her ambition of becoming a teacher.
