Madrid warned Cataluña on Monday over its plans to empower a regional tax agency. The Finance Ministry said that if the national tax agency failed to receive taxes due, it would take action to secure the cash, which could include sanctions. The move followed Catalan president Carles Puigdemont’s comment that the region was ready to take over tax collection revenues presently administered by the state.
