A Guardia Civil patrol last week prevented a 41-year-old man jumping from the A-7 viaduct 80 metres above the Chillar river in Nerja. One officer gained his confidence after talking for 30 minutes, finally coming close enough to grab his arm and pull him away from the edge. The man told the officer he had serious financial problems caused by his gambling addiction.
