A 52-year-old potholer had to be rescued last week, after he suffered decompression sickness while diving underwater in a 80-metre deep cave in the Alfaguara del Cinojal area near Parauta. The incident occurred last Thursday, October 12, with the alarm raised by a friend. He was rescued by police, fire-fighters and Guardia Civil mountain rescue officers, and taken to Benalmádena’s Vithas Xanit hospital for hyperbaric chamber treatment.
