A former Coín local police chief went on trial this week accused of embezzlement, for allegedly pocketing over €4,300 of payments that were made by officers on the force for online training courses. At the time, in 2006, the former chief, who has denied the charges, was coordinator of the local police’s training programme. The public prosecutor is seeking a four and a half year prison sentence.
