There will be no pony-ride carousel at the Alhaurín de la Torre feria this summer, announced the town hall last week. Scrapping the live-animal attraction had been a long-time demand of local animal rights groups. The town hall said the move was aimed at ensuring a fair that is “modern, fun, geared to all tastes and also respectful of animals”.
