Málaga’s Debts

Málaga is Spain’s third most-indebted city, after Zaragoza and Madrid. Málaga owed €542 million at the end of 2016 according to the Bank of Spain, equivalent to €952.50 for every one of its 569,000 inhabitants. In 2012, Málaga adopted a plan to bring its debt, then €883 million, within the government’s tolerance limits by 2020.
