Mijas town hall is to create a commission to develop new strategies made possible by the town’s official declaration as a ‘large population municipality’. Among other things the distinction, granted to towns with over 75,000 inhabitants and that meet other criteria, allows for the creation of distinct districts, which officials say will help decentralise government and foment citizen participation.
