The patio of an infant and primary school in Almayate was closed last week after around 15 children suffered bites from fleas and ticks. The area borders a park popular with dog owners, but an inspection confirmed that the infestation had not reached the school buildings. The outbreak began about two weeks ago when one girl required hospital treatment for a tick bite.
