The prosecutor has called for five years in jail, a fine and a ban on practicing for two people detained in December 2014 for operating an illegal slaughter house in Vélez-Málaga. Meat produced was sold at a butchery owned by one of the suspects and at Vélez municipal market. A report said the premises displayed numerous hygiene deficiencies.
