The unusually warm weather has forced authorities in Málaga to take action against processionary caterpillars at 13 pine tree parks in the city. The natural defences of the caterpillars, which do not normally emerge until spring, can cause serious allergic reactions. Areas of particular concern are those near schools, play areas and retirement homes.
