Lawyers representing around 100 homebuyers who got caught out when developer Aifos went bankrupt filed civil suits in Málaga last week against more than a dozen banks, in an effort to recover the money the buyers paid toward the purchase of homes that were never built. They charge that the banks failed in their obligation to set up special guaranteed accounts for the buyers’ deposits, which totalled around €5 million.
