The government has marked the 20th anniversary of the assassination of a Partido Popular councillor in Sevilla. Alberto Jimenez Becerril and his wife were shot dead by an ETA gunman as they returned to their home on January 30, 1998. PM Mariano Rajoy tweeted, “They wanted to kill two innocent people and succeeded only in waking us all up. Memory, dignity, justice and truth.”
